Project Brief

We collaborated with EMINDS, an app built around creativity and storytelling, to bring their spirit guide characters to life through Lottie animations. The client wanted these characters to feel expressive, approachable, and emotionally engaging — something that could move, react, and connect with users throughout the app experience.

They provided flat character designs, and our role was to rig and animate them while adding our own creative flair to enhance their personality and motion flow. We focused on smooth transitions, expressive gestures, and a sense of playfulness that made each spirit guide feel alive.

The final animations were lightweight, scalable, and versatile — designed to integrate seamlessly across the app, website, or any digital touchpoint, helping EMINDS feel more dynamic, interactive, and full of personality.

Character Expression Sheets & Turnarounds

We started by exploring the emotional range and visual identity of each spirit guide. From subtle smiles to bold gestures, every expression was designed to reflect the character’s role in guiding the player. Detailed turnarounds ensured smooth motion and consistency across all angles.

Animatics & Character Setup

Next, we created animatics to plan out timing, transitions, and overall motion flow. Simultaneously, we set up the 2D rigs in After Effects, preparing each character for dynamic and flexible animation.

Animating the Character

Using motion graphics techniques in After Effects, we brought the characters to life with smooth, expressive animations. The focus was on natural gestures, playful energy, and emotional clarity — creating versatile assets that could be used seamlessly across the app and website.
